Things are looking up in the residency. Today, Sheena and I gave a presentation to the staff at Kaunoa, a senior center servicing 350 people. We had a full hour to talk about how we can help their patients, and for once I actually felt I had the audience’s attention. There were no nerves, no stumbling over my words, and no doubt about what to mention next. They seemed excited about the whole prospect. We are offering free MTM (Medication Therapy Management) services if the patients transfer their prescriptions to Maui Clinic Pharmacy. We will help anyone, but we hope to make this financially feasible. We also can really help them with immunizations, such as shingles and pneumococcal vaccines. Home visits are on the list of possibles as well. The senior center offers education, with numerous weekly classes on just about anything you could imagine. What a great opportunity to provide health education!!
I left excited, energized, nearly skipping! Things are looking good for the girls at MCP.
